Emanuel B. Douglass, born in Chatham County, Ga. enlisted May 12, 1862 with Bank's Rangers and several months later transferred to Co. B, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, then on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Douglass was detailed to leave Northern Virginia in early December 1864 and go back to Georgia to acquire fresh mounts.

He was captured later in December in Effingham County, Ga. and imprisoned at Point Lookout, Md.

Emanuel Douglass was released from prison June 26, 1865.
