Solomon Mercer of Bulloch County, Ga., enlisted in 1862 with Co. B 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry and on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

In April '64 Mercer was absent for a short time. Other than that he was at roll calls through October.

Pvt. Mercer, was captured October 27, 1864 near Petersburg, Va., taken to Point Lookout, Md. Pvt. Mercer was chosen for exchange March 25, 1865 and was received at Boulware's Wharf, Va.
