J.H. Perkins enlisted July 10, 1862 at Savannah with Capt. Banks. Pvt. Perkins was with the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. B until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Perkins, in April '64, was absent with leave to rejoin his company at Augusta. He was present on all roll calls through December '64.
Pvt. J.H. Perkins was captured and paroled at Athens on May 8, 1865.
