A.S. Pinkston enlisted May 13, 1862 at Savannah with Capt. Banks. Pvt. Pinkston was with the 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. B until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. E, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

On the March/April 1864 roll Pvt. Pinkston was present, Ambulance Driver. On April 18th he was detailed for 10 days to go to Green County for a horse. He had been without horse since January '64. On the May/October roll he was present as an Ambulance Driver.

On April 6, 1865 Pvt. Pinkston was captured at Burkeville, Va. He was sent to City Point, Va. then was moved to Point Lookout, Md.

Pvt. A.S. Pinkston became sick, diagnosed with remittent fever, died May 29, 1865.
