George A. Jackson enlisted August 6, 1863 at Greensboro, Ga. He was in Co. E, 21st Battalion and was transferred to Co. F, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Pvt. Jackson received a 10 day furlough on April 29, 1864. He was captured June 11, 1864 near Louisa Courthouse, Va. His horse and all equipment was also captured.

Jackson was sent to Fortress Monroe June 20th and transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. July 25, 1864.

Pvt. George A. Jackson was released June 21, 1865. His description was: residence, Greensboro; complexion, florid; hair, auburn; eyes, blue; height, 5 feet 11 inches.
