Jacob Ward enlisted May 13, 1862 in Savannah with Capt. Banks. Cpl. Ward served in Co. B and later in Co. E, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. F, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Cpt. Ward was present at roll calls through August, 1864. In September and through October he was detailed (no description on the detail).
