S.M. Williams enlisted May 13, 1862 in Savanah with Capt. Banks. Pvt. Williams served in Co. B, and later Co. E, 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. F, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
In April of '64, Pvt. Williams was absent for 7 days just prior to leaving to Northern Virginia. He was present at roll until late August.
Pvt. S.M. Williams was wounded at Reams Station, Va. on August 23, 1864. He died later the same day.
