J.K. Foreman (J.H.) was enlisted by Capt. Hopkins September 22, 1862 at Waynesville. He served in the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry, Co. A until the organization of the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry when he was transferred to Co. G of the 7th. Sgt. J.K. Foreman was promoted from 5th Sgt. to 4th Sgt. on April 27, 1864.

On the muster roll, he was reported, absent - in the hands of the enemy, after being captured June 11, 1864 during the battle of Trevillian Station. He was first sent to Point Lookout, Md. on June 20th and then to Elmira Prison, N.Y. on July 25th.

Sgt. J.K. Foreman died August 27, 1864 of typhoid fever while in Elmira Prison. He was buried in grave # 111.
