Dempsey Griffin served in Company A of the 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until being transferred to Company G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry when it was formed in February 1864.

Private Griffin served proudly throughout the war surrendering with General Lee in April 1865.

Dempsey Griffin is buried at High Bluff Cemetery just outside of Hoboken, GA.
