A.N. Knight enlisted September 22, 1862 at Waynesville with Capt. Hopkins. Sgt. Knight was with the 24th Battalion, Ga Cav, Co. A until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

2nd Sgt. Knight was promoted to 1st. Sgt. April 27, 1864. He was captured June 11, 1864 near Louisa Courthouse, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe June 20th and was transferred to Elmira Prison, N.Y. July 25, 1864.

Sgt. A.N. Knight died September 15, 1864 of chronic diarrhoea. He was buried at Elmira in grave # 280.
