W. Smith enlisted September 22, 1863 at Waynesville with Capt. Hopkins. Pvt. Smith was in Co. A, 24th Battalion, Ga Cav until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. W. Smith transferred to 63rd Regiment, Ga Vols by order of Brig. General Mercer, April 17, 1864.
