He enlisted on August 1, 1862, at Waynesville, GA, in Captain Hopkin's Company A, 24th Battalion GA Cavalry. Was later transferred to Company G, 7th GA Cavalry.
He was captured by the Yankees on June 11, 1864, at Trevillian Station, VA, and sent to Elmira Prison Camp, Elmira, New York, where he died on Sunday, November 20, 1864, and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in grave # 944. .
