Records show that Pvt. Thornton was present at roll calls until September/October '64 when he was sick. Hospital records say he was admitted July 30th of '64 and returned to duty on October 29th from Wayne County, Screven, Ga.
Pvt. G.W. Thornton was shown on a list of Confederate soldiers who were paroled between April 11 and April 21, 1865.
