Daniel Tyre enlisted September 22, 1862 at Waynesville with Capt. Hopkins. Pvt. Tyre served in Co. A, 24th Battalion, Georgia Cavalry until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. G, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

He was listed as absent without leave through October '64 (beginning time not listed on the records). On October 17th he was in the hospital with chills and fever.

On May 16, 1865 Pvt. Daniel Tyre surrendered at Thomasville. His description: complexion, dark; hair, black; eyes, blue; height, 5 ft. 9 inches.
