Isaiah Beasley of Hinesville, Ga. enlisted in Bryan County with Capt. J.L. McAllister April 3, 1862 joining the Hardwick Mounted Rifles. He was voted in as 1st Lieutenant. As the small unit grew, it was necessary to break it down into companies, A and B. Lt. Beasley was then chosen to Company B.

In mid February 1864 the HMR and two cavalry battalions were consolidated to form the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry. What was Co. B of HMR became Co. H of the 7th. Lt. Beasley retained his rank in serving in the 7th.

One of Lt. Beasley's functions was to make monthly requisitions for horse food. In June the request was for forage for 72 horses. Also in June, the requisition was for fuel (wood) at Ricky Creek Station, Va. In July, another request for forage, along with corn and oats. In September it was for living forage.

Records show him as being present through October 1864 when then he was listed as absent, on sick furlough.
