Pvt. Shuman, on February 13, 1864 was transferred to Co. H, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

Records show that he was present through October 1864. On November 7th he was admitted to Jackson Hospital with diarrhoea and fever. He returned to duty November 15th.

He left command December 9, 1865 on detail to acquire fresh mounts and was not with command at surrender.
