J.D. Strickland enlisted August 13, 1863 in Bryan County with J.L. McAllister. Pvt. Strickland was in the Hardwick Mounted Rifles, Co. B until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. H, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
