J.K. Warnock joined the Hardwick Mounted Rifles April 3, 1862 in Bryan County, Ga. He served as Corporal in Company B under the command of J.L. McAllister. When the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized by consolidating the HMR, 21st Bn and 24th Bn, Cpl. Warnock was assigned to Co. H of the 7th.

He was captured June 11, 1864 at Trevillian Station, Va. He was sent to Fortress Monroe, Va. and then to Point Lookout, Md. Cpl. J.K. Warnock died of of unknown reason on July 9, 1864.
