John L. Camp was enlisted prior to the organization of the 7th Georgia Cavalry by Lt. Kiser.

Pvt. Camp was asssigned to Company I of the 7th and was shown to have been present until he was captured at Trevillian Station. After being captured, he was sent to Fortress Monroe. Va. on June 20, 1864 and transfered to Elmira Prison, NY on July 25th.

On March 2, 1865 he was chosen to be transferred for exchange. He was sent to James River after the exchange and on March 7 was sent to Jackson Hospital and furloughed on the 8th for 30 days.
