R.M. Satterfield enlisted August 20, 1863 in Cobb County with Lt. Glover. Pvt. Satterfield was with the 24th Battalion, Ga Cav, Co. D until February 13, 1864 when the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized through consolidation, Co. D of the 24th was then Co. I of the 7th.
He was sick in hospital August 1, 1864.
On September 6, 1864 he was received at Hdq. A of P (U.S.) and sent to Capt. Leslie at City Point, Va. He took the oath of allegiance and was transferred to Philadelphia, Pa.
