Levi Edwards when in Company I, 54th Georgia Regiment was discharged September 24, 1862 at Beaulieu near Savannah, Ga. He then enlisted as a private in Co. I, 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry at Chatham County January 16, 1863.

He transferred from the 5th March 1, 1864 and entered the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry May 16, 1864. Records show were he received a clothing issue in late fall of '64.

It appears as though Pvt. Edwards was in Co. B and later moved to Co. K.

He remained in the 7th for the duration of the war and surrendered at Appomattox April 9, 1865.
