James English was enlisted by Capt. J.L. McAllister February 28, 1863 in Bryan County. He served in Company A of the Hardwick Mounted Rifles until the HMR and two other units were consolidated to form the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry. At this time Co. A of the HMR became Company K of the 7th.
Pvt. English was shown to be present until he was sent on special service at Lynchburgh. In October he was back with his company.
