C.G. Johnson enlisted February 28, 1863 in Chatham County. He was in Co. A, Hardwick Mounted Rifles and was transferred to Co. K, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry after the consolidation of forming the 7th.
In September Pvt. Johnson got a sick furlough in Georgia. He returned to service around November 1st.
He went on to surrender with General Lee at Appomattox April 9, 1865.
