J.L. Lenair (Lanier) enlisted April 3, 1862 in Bryan County. Pvt. Lenair was in Co. A of the Hardwick Mounted Rifles until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. K, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
In late July '64, Lenair was admitted to Kittralls Hospital, N.C. diagnosed as apoplexin (stroke or hemorrhage in to an organ cavity). Pvt. J.L. Lenair died April 6, 1864.
