J.C. Proctor enlisted April 3, 1862 in Bryan County with Capt. J.L. McAllister. Pvt. Proctor was with the Hardwick Mounted Rifles, Co. A until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. K, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Proctor was listed as being present at all roll calls through October.
Pvt. J.C. Proctor surrendered with the remaining men of the 7th and General Lee on April 9, 1865.
