B.J. Sims enlisted April 3, 1862 in Bryan County. Cpl. Sims was in Co. A, Hardwick Mounted Rifles until February 13, 1864 when the 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry was organized through consolidation, Co. A of the HMR was then Co. K of the 7th.
Cpl. B.J. Sims was present throughout the war. He surrendered along with the remaining men of the 7th and General Lee on April 9, 1865 at Appomattox.
