Israel E. Vanbrackle enlisted as a private in the 25th Regiment, Georgia Infantry August 14, 1861. He was discharged January 1862.

He then joined the Hardwick Mounted Rifles where he served until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred and was elected Lieutenant of Co. K, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.

He was on detail duty at the close of the war.

Died January 20, 1888
