Benjamin Willis enlisted April 3, 1862 in Bryan County with Capt. J.L. McAllister. Pvt. Willis was with the Hardwick Mounted Rifles in Co. A until, through consolidation of units, he was transferred to Co. K, 7th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry.
Pvt. Willis was listed as being present on all roll calls through October. Also in October, he lost his horse.
